How to Become a Teacher in Minnesota

Find the right pathway.
To become a classroom teacher, you’ll need a bachelor’s degree and a teaching license. You can earn them both at the same time, or earn a license after you already have a degree. Choose a teaching program.
When it comes time to choose a teaching program, use our criteria to compare options. It’s easier to find a match when you know which programs will work best for you.

Apply to programs and jobs with confidence.
Once you’ve found the right teaching program or job, it’s time to apply. You might need to write an essay, submit a resume, take a test or get letters of recommendation. We’ve got guides for all of that! And if you run into fees for testing or applications, we’ll reimburse you for up to $100!

Fund your teacher preparation.
Thinking about finances? You’ve got options when it comes to funding your training, from work study to loans to scholarships. Some programs even let you start teaching and earning a salary right away.
