Education Jobs in Minnesota

Paraprofessionals—also known as paraeducators, teachers' aides, education support professionals, or teaching assistants—support both students and licensed teachers. In Minnesota, there is especially high demand for paraprofessionals in shortage areas like bilingual education, early childhood and special education. 

As a paraprofessional, you will work closely with students 1-on-1 or in smaller groups under the guidance of a licensed teacher. Your role calls for supporting the needs of the students and creating a healthy environment for them to learn. (6)

Becoming a paraprofessional 

Check your local school district’s website to start looking for paraprofessional positions. Certain requirements vary by district. For example, you may need an associate's degree or to possibly take a brief exam.

When full-time teachers can’t be in the classroom, substitute teachers are there to ensure students still receive instruction. Substitute teaching allows you to work with different age groups and subjects and better understand what fulfills you.

If you’re enrolled in a teaching program or already have your teaching license, then you might be ready to apply for a classroom position.
