Based in the Twin Cities, Black Men Teach works to recruit, prepare, place and retain Black male teachers in Minnesota schools. Black Men Teach offers fellowships for high school and college students, as well as early-career teachers. Fellows can receive ongoing mentorship, support with goals, scholarship funding, paid classroom opportunities and more! 

The Black Teacher Collaborative offers professional development initiatives to empower aspiring Black educators and prepare them to teach at schools with critical needs subjects. 

The Coalition to Increase Teachers of Color and American Indian Teachers in Minnesota, unites individuals, organizations and communities throughout the state. The Coalition creates affinity spaces and gatherings, advocates for policy changes, and raises awareness about the importance of diverse classroom teachers.

Made up of over 470 local unions, Education Minnesota advocates for educators statewide. In addition to their policy work, Education Minnesota supports preservice and current teachers with workshops, networking opportunities, connections with affinity groups—such as the African American Educators Forum—and more. 

The Minneapolis NAACP chapter has many active committees, fueled by active members and residents across the community. The Minneapolis NAACP advocates for and raises awareness of inequities in housing, education, economic development, healthcare and more. 

The Saint Paul NAACP branch works to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of all persons, and to eliminate race-based discrimination in all areas of life. The St. Paul branch serves St. Paul and surrounding communities east of St. Paul, including incarcerated individuals. 

The NEA Black Caucus identifies and advocates for the issues and concerns of Black teachers within the National Education Association. The NEA Black Caucus hosts conferences and offers scholarships, as well as opportunities for members to connect and share resources.
