The number of credits required to complete your program depends on your licensure area and transfer work. An advisor will work with you prior to admission to determine eligible transfer credits. The cost per credit is $634 for each area.

Depending on what credits transfer in, your program may be as short as two years or as long as you want to take to complete your license. 

You can complete most of the required hands-on field experience and student teaching hours at your current school. This allows you to gain practical experience and balance your responsibilities. 

• Our program ensures that you have experiences working with culturally, racially and linguistically diverse students.

•  Our Center for Excellence in Urban Teaching provides support and culturally responsive training. You’ll also have access to support and resources through Hamline’s Office of Inclusive Excellence.

• Hamline is routinely awarded grants from the Minnesota Department of Education to support future urban educators. 

• Faculty and staff will guide and support you throughout your licensure program.
• During student teaching, you’ll be paired with both a supervisor and a cooperating teacher who will support your growth and give you meaningful weekly feedback as you develop your teaching skills.
