Coaching is available to anyone brand-new to teaching—without a teaching credential or experience as a lead teacher in any state—who is living in the U.S., or is a U.S. citizen living abroad. If you’re not eligible for coaching, you can learn more about becoming a Minnesota teacher with the TeachMN Licensure Guide or from the Minnesota Department of Education.
Averi M. Turner is a Minnesota-based educator, doctoral candidate, and school leader with over five years of experience in instructional and administrative roles. As a semifinalist for Minnesota Teacher of the Year (2025), she is passionate about mentoring others and is looking forward to serving as a career coach with TeachMN—a statewide initiative to support and inspire aspiring educators. Through this role and her ongoing work in schools, Averi continues to push for and model equity, inclusive leadership, and educational excellence across Minnesota.
Dr. Becky Jo Evers-Gerdes serves as the State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) Coordinator at the Minnesota Department of Education. She brings over 20 years of experience as a teacher, administrator, curriculum director, and adjunct professor. Becky is passionate about supporting student success through culturally responsive instruction, strong school-family partnerships, and data-driven decision making.
Lavyne has worked in education for more than 20 years. She has taught agriculture, food, and natural resources in Minnesota and South Dakota for nearly 10 years, and is now the director of a statewide mentoring program for early-career teachers in Career and Technical Education.
Sarah Hedge is a special education resource teacher with almost 20 years of experience in K-12 classrooms, currently working with elementary students in Minneapolis Public Schools. After starting her education career in nonprofits doing urban environmental education and student-led service-learning projects in secondary schools around the Twin Cities, Sarah earned her Master’s in Special Education and K-12 licensure in specific learning disabilities and emotional/behavioral disorders from the University of St. Thomas. She has taught in both traditional public and charter schools, and is passionate about mentoring future educators through university partnerships and district licensure programs.
